Recognizing Amazing Jamaican Women

The Amazing Woman’s Day of Jamaica will celebrate and honour Jamaican women through a one day Conference and an Award Ceremony.

The conference will host an Women Exchange programme where known renown female professionals will share their gifts, talents and strengths.

The goal? To inspire our Jamaican women.

February 18, 2010 saw the official launch of the Amazing Woman’s Day, Jamaica at the Hilton in Kingston, Jamaica. It marked the first international extension of Amazing Woman’s Day activities and nominees.

CONFERENCE

Contributing to this day will be a room filled with empowerment experts who will host a series of interactive round-table discussions that link and build on each other as women move between tables, exchange ideas, and discover answers to the questions that impact their life, work, health, family and community while empowering and celebrating the individual greatness of every woman. Featured speakers include transformational leaders and honorees:

  • Rita Humphery Lewin and Donna Duncan Scott for Finance,
  • The most Honourable Portia Simpson Miller and Honourable Olivia Babsy Grange for Government,
  • Sharon Chambers and Sharon Feanny for Health & Wellness,
  • Claudette Pious and Maia Chung for Community,
  • Leonie Forbes and Fae Ellington for Media/Theatre,
  • Eleanor Jones and Diana McCaulay for Environment,
  • Marcia Griffiths,Tanya Stevens & Queen Ifrica for Music/Entertainment.

A groundbreaking element of Amazing Woman’s Day 2010 blends technology and live event and women around the globe will join the celebration via live streaming.

DINNER & AWARDS CEREMONY

This event takes the form of an elegant dinner ceremony with live performances, awards presentation and influential and inspiring guest speakers.

Women from all social and economical background who are leaders and aspiring leaders in our communities, schools, workplace, and other institutions (community leaders, heads of women’s organizations, life & career coaches, mentors, voices in media and more)

Jamaica's 15 pioneers have been called upon to help with the identification and selection of 5 Jamaican female potential Ambassadors and 30 grassroots women to be honored by the Amazing Woman's Day organization.

May16-2010 will see seminars where female leaders, transformational entrepreneurs and success experts will come together in a half day conference of teaching and learning through networking and sharing.

The main awards ceremony, to honor these 3 categories of women Pioneers Ambassadors and Grassroots achievers.

Proceeds from all activities centre around the initiative will benefit the Hilton Kids Charity bringing YAP- Young and Progressive Programs to it's 5 local schools in Kingston. Persons interested in taking part or learning more about YAP programmes can email:
